Happy Halloween season! It’s once again the most wonderful time of the year, with the end of summer this week marking the start of spooky season. And it should surprise no one that horror has planned accordingly; this fall brings a densely packed lineup of genre offerings.
Fall is peak horror season, of course, and 2022’s release slate ensures that no Halloween horror watchlists will go unfilled this year. This is only the tip of the iceberg for what’s coming over the next few months, so keep your eyes peeled for updates and more in the coming weeks.

Saloum – September 8 (Shudder)
Three legendary mercenaries seek refuge in the mystical region of Saloum, Senegal, after their latest mission. Someone’s past comes back to haunt them there, unleashing hell for all.
Barbarian – September 9 (Theaters)
Written and directed by Zach Cregger, Barbarian sees a woman’s rental nightmare come true when she finds it’s been double booked. Despite her worries, she decides to stay the night. But the stranger might be the least of her fears.
Margaux – September 9 (VOD)
Director Steven C. Miller (Silent Night, First Kill, Escape Plan 2) is headed back to the horror genre. A smart house’s AI system develops a mind of her own and transforms a weekend of partying into a lethal nightmare for its new tenants.
Speak No Evil – September 15 (Shudder)
A Danish family visits a Dutch family they met on holiday. They try to maintain politeness as the weekend becomes more and more uncomfortable.
Goodnight Mommy – September 16 (Prime Video)
A remake of Veronika Franz and Severin Fiala’s 2014 horror movie. Twin brothers don’t recognize their mother’s bandaged face when they arrive at her country home. Erratic behavior soon convinces them that she’s not even their mother at all.
Pearl – September 16 (Theaters)
Mia Goth reprises her role as Pearl in this prequel to Ti West’s X. See Pearl as a farm girl with star ambition and a murderous short fuse in her youth.
When the Screaming Starts – September 20 (Screambox)
An aspiring documentary filmmaker thinks he’s finally found the perfect subject with aspiring serial killer Aidan Mendle. But as Aidan and his newly recruited murder cult embark on a blood-soaked rampage, Norman’s dream of becoming a renowned documentary filmmaker becomes a nightmare.
Don’t Worry Darling – September 23 (Theaters)
Florence Pugh stars as a 1950s housewife living with her husband in a utopian experimental community. When cracks begin to show in the idyllic perfection, she suspects something far more sinister is afoot.
The Munsters – September 27 (Netflix, Blu-ray, VOD)
Rob Zombie reimagines The Munsters in a meet-cute between Lily and Herman. Their courtship will take them from Transylvania to Hollywood.
My Best Friend’s Exorcism – September 30 (Prime Video)
This ’80s set adaptation of Grady Hendrix’s novel sees two best friends turned against each other when one starts behaving cruelly. The other soon suspects that demonic possession may be to blame.
Hocus Pocus 2 – September 30 (Disney+)
The Sanderson Sisters are back, and they want revenge. It’s up to a trio of high school students to stop them on All Hallow’s Eve.
Smile – September 30 (Theaters)
Dr. Rose Cotter begins experiencing horrifying occurrences after witnessing a traumatic event at work. Eerie smiles follow her everywhere.
Deadstream – October 6 (Shudder)
A disgraced and demonetized Internet personality tries to win back his followers and sponsors with a Livestream event that sees him spending the night in a haunted house. What could go wrong? Everything.
Terrifier 2 – October 6 (Theaters)
Art the Clown is back! This time he targets a teenage girl and her younger brother on Halloween night. It’s going to be insanely violent and messy, and it’s coming to theaters – not rated by the MPA! – from Bloody Disgusting, Cinedigm and SCREAMBOX.
Hellraiser – October 7 (Hulu)
David Bruckner has such sights to show us with this new spin on Clive Barker’s classic. “A young woman must confront the sadistic, supernatural forces behind an enigmatic puzzle box responsible for her brother’s disappearance.” Jamie Clayton stars as the Hell Priest.
The Visitor – October 7 (Digital and VOD)
“When Robert and his wife Maia move to her childhood home, he discovers an old portrait of his likeness in the attic – a man referred to only as ‘The Visitor.’ Soon he finds himself descending down a frightening rabbit hole in an attempt to discover the true identity of his mysterious doppelgänger, only to realize that every family has its own terrifying secrets.”

Spirit Halloween: The Movie – October 11 (VOD)

Halloween Ends – October 14 (Theaters and Peacock)

Piggy – October 14 (VOD)

Slayers – October 21 (Digital and VOD)
A seasoned vampire hunter enlists social media influencers to help him take revenge against the bloodsuckers that murdered his daughter. Thomas Jane, Abigail Breslin, and Malin Akerman star.
Prey for the Devil – October 28 (Theaters)
The Catholic Church reopens exorcism schools to train priests in the Rite of Exorcism. Sister Ann finds herself in a battle for a young girl’s soul, forcing her to confront her horrifying past in the process.
Run Sweetheart Run – October 28 (Prime Video)

Wendell & Wild – October (Netflix)
The Nightmare Before Christmas and Coraline director Henry Selick is back this October with a new stop-motion movie. The exact date hasn’t been set just yet, so stay tuned. Keegan-Michael Key and Jordan Peele star in a tale of “the hellishly funny demons of a teen named Kat.”
Something in the Dirt – November 4 (VOD)
Justin Benson and Aaron Moorhead’s latest sees them starring as neighbors who witness supernatural events in their apartment building. Deciding to document it for fame sends them down a rabbit hole.
The Menu – November 18 (Theaters)
A young couple travels to a remote island for a luxurious culinary experience, only to discover something far more bizarre on the menu.
Bones and All – November 23 (Theaters)
Luca Guadagnino‘s (Suspiria) next film is an adaptation of Camille DeAngelis’s novel. Timothée Chalamet and Taylor Russell (Escape Room) star as young loners embarking on a road trip. It’s a cannibal love story.
Nanny – November 23 (Prime Video)
