New ‘S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2: Heart of Chornobyl’ Concept Art Reveals The Creepy Bayun

GSC Game World are still working away at S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2: Heart of Chornobyl, despite the obvious setbacks. The Heart of Chornobyl team has released new concept art of the Bayun, both celebrating International Cat Day, and also providing us with a gruesome look at one of the creatures you’ll be encountering in the game.

The Bayun is described as “a very stealthy and nimble mutant” cat creature. The image text states that the Bayun takes its name from its throat sacs, “which allow the beast to imitate all kinds of sounds, including human speech.” In fact, the Bayun is based on the Slavic mythological creature known as Cat Bayun. Cat Bayun is a cat that tells stories and is able to lull unsuspecting travellers before eating them. Bayun can be caught if the person wears iron gloves and an iron hat, after which Bayun serves the person who caught it.

It’s unlikely that GSC would include the ability to catch a Bayun in Heart of Chornobyl, the fact that they decided to include that tidbit about it mimicking human speech in the concept art opens up some pretty creepy possibilities if you were to encounter it in the game.

S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2: Heart of Chornobyl is currently in development for the Xbox Series, the Xbox Game Pass, and PC via Steam and the Epic Games Store.

Given that Netflix really is the master of their own data, how many times a viewer streams The Ridiculous 6, or what films don't get watched all the way straight through, or how many times someone watches an episode of Bill Nye Saves the World, it was easy for them to come up with the list based on just one percentage: 70 percent.
