‘Phasmophobia’ Developer Details Revamped Roadmap for 2022 and 2023

Phasmophobia developer Kinetic Games has released an updated roadmap for the popular co-op horror game, while also detailing how development has gone over 2022. In spite of not everything going according to how the developer had laid things out, the long-awaited custom difficulties for Phasmophobia is finally on the way, along with news on the updates being made to Progression.

In the post, Kinetic Games lamented that the 2022 roadmap didn’t go exactly as they had planned with regards to updates. After all, the developer has had to pivot ever since the game came out in Early Access. That being said, Kinetic Games states that with the updated roadmap, it allows them “a bit of extra room for things going wrong.”

Onto the good stuff: the custom difficulty update will be arriving later this month in the 0.7 update. “We’ve squeezed in loads of extra things and even a few new [REDACTED] for you to enjoy, all will be revealed when the update trailer drops very soon.”

Touted as “the biggest programming and art overhaul that Phasmophobia will ever receive”, the Progression system has been split up into two parts in the new roadmap, with the majority of the revamp coming next year. Despite this, some of the original ‘part one’ has now been moved into its own larger update referred to as “the URP upgrade”. This update will include an overhaul to the weather effects, new lighting, and more [REDACTED].

The second part of the Progression update will include reworkings for many systems, as well as models and animations. “Hopefully, by us splitting this into several smaller updates, this allows you to experience new things slowly over time, instead of having to wait six or more months for one massive patch.”

After the Progression system overhaul comes what the devs refer to as “Horror 2.0”. That involves replacing all of the ghost models and “adding a plethora of new effects, events, sounds, and interactions to scare you out of your skin.” This also includes new and reworked locations that will be released “as soon as they are finished.”

No date has been set for when Phasmophobia leaves Early Access.

The Top 10 Streaming Scary Movies of Today (According to Netflix)

Given that Netflix really is the master of their own data, how many times a viewer streams The Ridiculous 6, or what films don't get watched all the way straight through, or how many times someone watches an episode of Bill Nye Saves the World, it was easy for them to come up with the list based on just one percentage: 70 percent.
