Restaurant in Original ‘Texas Chain Saw Massacre’ House Renamed Hooper’s in Honor of Tobe Hooper

Located in Kingsland, Texas, the Leatherface house from Tobe Hooper‘s original The Texas Chain Saw Massacre has played host to the Grand Central Café restaurant for the last several years, but new owners have moved in and some changes are taking place. The good news? Those new owners will be honoring, preserving, and restoring the location’s iconic legacy.

For starters, the Grand Central Café – a restaurant that is literally inside the horror movie house – is being renamed Hooper’s in honor of Tobe Hooper, who passed away back in 2017.

The new owners wrote in an update on Facebook last month, “We are currently very deep into restoring the house, but we have kept the bar open in an effort to employ existing staff. Sandy Jones continues to operate the bar, which is fully functional. Food is being served out of our original Taco Flats airstream and an old smoker that was once used by a barbecue joint in Burnet, Texas. We are all here to serve this community through this very exciting transition.”

“We will announce a full branding reveal and a timeline for the full reopening soon,” they add.

In the meantime you can check out a video below that previews the preservation progress.

Hooper’s is located at 1010 King Court in Kingsland, Texas.
