‘House of 1000 Corpses’ – How to Listen to Rob Zombie’s 20th Anniversary Commentary Track

The good news? Rob Zombie recorded a brand new commentary track for the 20th anniversary of his debut feature House of 1000 Corpses. The bad news? It’s not included on the new 20th anniversary Blu-ray disc, which was just released by Lionsgate this week.

Unfortunately, Rob Zombie’s 20-years-later Director’s Commentary track is a DIGITAL EXCLUSIVE, but what exactly does that mean? And how do you listen to the new track?

You have two options. The first is you can buy the brand new 20th Anniversary Edition Blu-ray, which comes with a Digital Copy that’s housed inside the Blu-ray case. The flyer gives you a code that you can enter at lionsgate.com/redeem, and that code unlocks the Digital Copy. You’re then given the option to load the copy directly into a platform like VUDU.

From there, you’ll want to navigate over to the Bonus Features of the Digital Copy, and in that section you’ll find TWO House of 1000 Corpses commentary tracks from Rob Zombie. Director’s Commentary 1 is the track from the original 2003 release of the movie on home video, while Director’s Commentary 2 is the brand new track Zombie recorded this year.

The Digital Copy also comes with a slew of other House of 1000 Corpses Bonus Features, including “Making Of,” “Behind the Scenes,” “Casting,” “Auditions,” and “Interviews.”

If you’re not looking to buy the new Blu-ray set but you do want to listen to the new commentary track, the good news is that Lionsgate is giving you that option. If you digitally purchase House of 1000 Corpses through VUDU – $7.99 for SD, $9.99 for HDX – you’ll also unlock the Digital Copy bonus features, including the new Rob Zombie commentary.

Zombie’s commentary tracks are always entertaining and the House of 1000 Corpses 20th Anniversary track is no exception. As Zombie notes at the start, it’s the first time he’s watched the movie all the way through in 20 years, and he offers up all kinds of fresh insights and reflections that you could only get from a filmmaker looking back on their very first movie.

Additionally, Zombie dives deep into the film’s long journey to the screen in the new track, detailing what was filmed when the movie was set up at Universal and what footage was later shot after Universal decided they wouldn’t be releasing it. Zombie also pays tribute in the new track to the many House of 1000 Corpses stars who are sadly no longer with us.

Grab the new Blu-ray – or buy the film on VUDU – to listen to the new track now.
