What if the scariest thing you know doesn’t just lurk in the dark, but also lurks in the past?
That’s the question driving House of Flies, a candy-colored nightmare by visionary director and writer Alex Havens. Today, we get to reveal an inside look at the visual direction of the upcoming horror film. Equal parts psychological thriller and vivid fever dream, House of Flies is shaping up to be one of the most aesthetically arresting horror projects on the indie radar.

The World of House of Flies
The team (Alex Havens, Chris & Katie Tawney, Susan Alvis, Cayman Cardiff) describes the film as a slow descent into a surreal personal hell, where the first piece of concept art depicts the type of nightmarish abyss that awaits the main characters.
Currently in pre-production under Kid Wonder and AKA Dinosaurs Productions, House of Flies follows Mason and Avery after a 6-month break as they attempt to salvage what’s left of their fractured relationship. Upon arrival at their StayBNB, they find the hosts still on the property, which is the first of many unusual occurrences throughout the weekend that ultimately lead to their hosts’ disturbing truth. What begins as a search for closure becomes a waking nightmare that challenges the fabric of reality.
What sets House of Flies apart is how deeply tied to emotion the story is. Each character is as intricately drawn out as the art above, and each character’s journey leads to the heart of the horror.

With filming set to begin in December 2025, the production team has been hard at work for the past nine months to ensure everything is perfect. From casting to locations, production design to the color and sound bible, the team has been aligning everything to ensure filming runs smoothly.
