If you fancy a horror game that’s sick, twisted, and steeped in bad taste, we’ve got great news. DreadXP has partnered with developer Fernando Tittz of Games from the Abyss to unleash The Lacerator, a brutal yet playful release that pairs grindhouse sleaze with a sadistic antagonist and a porn star lead character.
The setup is wild, inventive, and totally outside the box. Tittz put plenty of imagination into conceiving this title, while also taking inspiration from a variety of familiar sources. Perhaps his most enticing point of reference is the limb-severing element from Resident Evil 7. What’s especially noteworthy is that instead of a momentary loss that regenerates in time, The Lacerator forces players to adapt and learn to live with fewer limbs. Naturally, that poses a unique challenge and changes the way you play the game.
Tittz sat down for an interview with us last month and explained, “It’s a mix between survival horror games like Resident Evil and Silent Hill, and trashy Grindhouse movies like Planet Terror and From Dusk Till Dawn.”
The Lacerator also stands out for featuring an antagonist inspired by a notorious serial killer. “The biggest inspiration was BTK,” Tittz told Dread Central. “He took these really disturbing photos of himself in masks and ropes—it wasn’t gore, but the mood of it was very unsettling.”

It was just another erotic encounter for Max, one of the most famous porn stars of the 1980s, but things get extra hard when the job requires more limbs than usual after Max and the crew are captured by The Lacerator! Wriggling to survive, Max will need to risk life and limb to escape the hideout of this crazed psychopath.
As for gameplay, The Lacerator offers multiple POV options, including fixed camera and over-the-shoulder third-person mode. It features a variety of options for main paths of play and a number of different potential endings. Players will have to hunt for resources, solve puzzles, and watch out for traps along the way.
