Lionsgate is seemingly having trouble settling on an official title for Mike P. Nelson‘s giant-snake movie, initially filmed under the title Titan.
After being retitled earlier this year to Boiúna: Legend of the Amazon, the studio has updated their box office listing with the newly minted official title: Beware Boiúna.
I never liked Titan – it instantly makes me think of anything but a snake. And Boiúna is quite the tongue-twister (how do you even pronounce that?). That said, I do like Beware leading the unpronounceable name, and it’s leaps and bounds better than Legend of the Amazon.
In addition, we learned today that the film has been dated for release in theaters on October 2, 2026, and has been rated R for “bloody violent content, some grisly images, and language.”
The survival horror movie hails from director Mike P. Nelson, the filmmaker behind Wrong Turn, V/H/S/85, Silent Night, Deadly Night, and takes place in Brazil’s Curuçá River and stars both Kiana Madeira (Fear Street) and Jessica Rothe (Happy Death Day).
Here’s the official logline: “Deep in the Amazon, a medical mission spirals into a fight for survival when Boiúna, a colossal ancient predator, awakens to reclaim her domain. In the jungle where nature holds absolute power, she decides who lives and who dies.”
Tony Giglio wrote the script with Alan B. McElroy (Wrong Turn).
Constantin Film (Resident Evil) and JB Pictures are the two production companies behind Titan. Robert Kulzer of Constantin Film and Jeremy Bolt of JB Pictures are producing.
