New Horror Game ‘The Medium’ Features Music From Legendary ‘Silent Hill’ Composer Akira Yamaoka

Layers of Fear and Blair Witch developer Bloober Team unveiled its first next-generation game, The Medium, at Xbox Inside today.

It features a psychic who has some pretty apocalyptic visions, and things get a bit Silent Hill, which is amplified by a very Silent Hill soundtrack.

That’s because Bloober has enlisted legendary Silent Hill composer Akira Yamaoka as the composer for The Medium. It seems like a pretty good fit too!

You can read more about the game’s plot from the official synopsis.

“Players will find themselves in the body of Marianne, a medium hounded by visions, living and interacting across two worlds: the real, and the spirit world. Nothing is what it seems, everything has another side. As a medium with access to both worlds, you have a wider perspective and can see more clearly that there’s no one simple truth to what others perceive.”

Check out the official reveal video below.

Bloober will take advantage of the new hardware to create a seamless transition between the two worlds in The Medium, hopefully evolving the developer’s patented head-messing psychological horror.

Like Bloober’s sci-fi body horror gem Observer, The Medium takes place in the developer’s native Poland, notably the city of Krakow.

The game will be coming to Xbox Series X, Microsoft’s next-generation console as a launch window title for Holiday 2020.
