‘O2’: Alexandre Aja Directing Netflix Survival Thriller Starring Melanie Laurent

Noomi Rapace, you may recall, had originally been set to star in Alexandre Aja‘s (High Tension, Crawl) O2, but we’ve learned this week that Melanie Laurent is now in the lead role.

Additionally, Deadline reports that Netflix has boarded the French-language thriller, which was originally going to be produced by Aja but directed by Franck Khalfoun (Maniac).

O2 tells the story of a young woman who wakes up in a medical cryo unit. She doesn’t remember who she is or how she ended up sequestered in a box no larger than a coffin. As she’s running out of oxygen, she must rebuild her memory to find a way out of her nightmare.”

Christie LeBlanc wrote the script.

Netflix is planning on releasing the film sometime in mid-2021.
