Cyberpunk Horror Arrives August 25 With ‘Sense: A Cyberpunk Ghost Story’

If you’re looking for more horror in your cyberpunk, publisher Top Hat Studios and developer Suzaku’s Sense: A Cyberpunk Ghost Story looks to have your answer. The 2.5D game, which is “inspired by Clock Tower and Fatal Frame“, already sounds like it’s off to a good start. Even better is that you won’t have to wait long, as the game will launch August 25th on Steam, followed by releases on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Switch, and PS Vita this Fall.

With Sense, the devs hope that its attention to pacing, atmosphere and storytelling will “return the horror genre to its roots” in focusing on “the slow, fearful creep of dread instead of relying on over the top action and jump scares.” There’s also a free demo available for you to try.

The story for Sense takes place in 2083 Neo Hong Kong, where a young woman named Mei-Lin Mak finds herself caught up in the supernatural horrors of the Chong Sing Apartments, which hold a bloody mystery “illuminated by both the traditions of Chinese folklore, and the innovations of the industrial future”. The more she explores, the more Mei will be forced to question her perception of reality. In order to make it out, Mei-Lin must explore the apartment complex, piecing together the stories of 14 lost souls, and discover the truth of her own family curse.
