Official Mini Doc Features First Footage from ‘The Conjuring 3: The Devil Made Me Do It’

James Wan has passed the baton to Michael Chaves (The Curse of La Llorona) for The Conjuring 3: The Devil Made Me Do It, which WB is bringing to theaters on June 4, 2021.

In a 30-minute documentary released over the weekend, titled Faith & Fear: The Conjuring Universe Behind the Scenes, WB showed off the first-ever footage from the film.

“I really wanted Conjuring 3 to get away from the haunted house setup of the first two films,” Wan says in the video. “It should be on a whole different level. Something that we’ve never explored before in the Conjuring world.” Set in 1981, the film tells the story of Arne Johnson, notable for being the first time demonic possession was used as a reason for manslaughter.

“You’re in for a much different ride,” Patrick Wilson promises.

“The Devil Made Me Do It reveals a chilling story of terror, murder and unknown evil that shocked even experienced real-life paranormal investigators Ed and Lorraine Warren. One of the most sensational cases from their files, it starts with a fight for the soul of a young boy, then takes them beyond anything they’d ever seen before, to mark the first time in U.S. history that a murder suspect would claim demonic possession as a defense.”

The Conjuring 3 portion of the video below begins at 29:40…

Patrick Wilson and Vera Farmiga both return to star as Ed and Lorraine Warren, with Ruairi O’Connor, Sarah Catherine Hook, and Julian Hilliard starring alongside them.
