‘Toys of Terror’ Clips Recreate Classic ‘Child’s Play’ and ‘Arachnophobia’ Scenes [Exclusive]

Warner Bros. Home Entertainment is getting into the holiday spirit early this year with Toys of Terror, which brings a chest filled with toys to life on Digital HD this Halloween, October 27, 2020 (a Blu-ray and DVD release has also been set for January 19, 2021).

From “Stan Against Evil” creator Dana Gould and director Nicholas Verso (Boys in the Trees, “Nowhere Boys”), Toys of Terror turns a family’s fun Christmas getaway into a nightmare when a stash of old toys in an abandoned playroom come to life and bring hell to the holidays.

The trailer, brimming with horror Easter eggs, looked like a mix between Toy Story, KrampusChild’s Play, among others. Bloody Disgusting was able to dig a little deeper and collect a pair of clips that both give homage to a horror classic.

The first clip should bring to mind Don Mancini and Tom Holland’s Child’s Play, in which a possessed doll torments a family. In the footage from Toys of Terror, a mother picks up a toy monkey and threatens to throw it in the fire. After coming to life, it’s tossed into the flames and begins bouncing around the room in pain. The second (and potentially traumatizing) clip calls back to Arachnophobia in which a young girl grabs a handful of popcorn and accidentally eats a spider.
