Earlier this year, CBS handed a series order to “Clarice,” a show that will center on Clarice Starling in the wake of The Silence of the Lambs. Rebecca Breeds (“Pretty Little Liars”) will star as Clarice Starling, with the cast also including Kal Penn (Harold & Kumar Go to White Castle), Nick Sandow (“Orange is the New Black”) and Michael Cudlitz (“The Walking Dead”).
More casting news comes courtesy of Deadline today, with the site reporting that Marnee Carpenter (“Criminal Minds”) has signed on as a series regular, with Jayne Atkinson (“House of Cards”), Shawn Doyle (“The Expanse”), and Tim Guinee (“Homeland”) also joining the cast.
Carpenter will be playing Catherine Martin, the character abducted and held hostage by Buffalo Bill in The Silence of the Lambs. She was ultimately saved by Clarice Starling.
Brooke Smith played Catherine Martin in the Oscar-winning 1991 film.

Elizabeth Klaviter (“The Resident”) will show-run “Clarice,” working alongside writers/executive producers Alex Kurtzman and Jenny Lumet. Maja Vrvilo directs the pilot.
“Clarice” is set for a midseason 2020-21 premiere.
