The Live-Action Trailer For ‘The Medium’ Brings the Game’s Dual Worlds to Unsettling Life

The Medium is inarguably Bloober Team‘s biggest game to date, and with just two weeks until its release, the launch campaign is ramping up with gameplay videos, technical updates, and fancy new trailers. Today, we get one of those fancy new trailers in the form of an atmospheric live-action promo.

The cinematic trailer, written and produced by Oscar nominee Tomasz Bagiński, features a live-action version of the game’s protagonist experiencing both sides of the game world (the dreary, dilapidated reality, and the hellish spirit world) as creepy visions and looming threats manifest around them. It certainly captures the tone and atmosphere of what we’ve seen of the game so far.

Interestingly, Baginski’s award-winning CG short film The Cathedral was inspired by Zdzisław Beksiński, the same painter that Bloober references in the design of The Medium‘s spirit world, so it’s a fine match.

It won’t be long until we find out if The Medium will be the first horror game success of 2021. It’s fair to say I’m pretty optimistic given Bloober’s decent track record in horror, and that it has names such as Silent Hill composer Akira Yamaoka involved in the project.

The Medium is out January 28 on Xbox Series X/S and PC to buy and as part of GamePass.
