Survivors take all.
Seventeen years after his Dawn of the Dead remake, Zack Snyder returns to the world of zombies with his new movie Army of the Dead, which has been in development for nearly just as long. Snyder’s latest, starring Dave Bautista and a whole bunch of undead flesh-eaters, is coming exclusively to Netflix on May 21, and we’ve got the teaser trailer for ya today.
The trailer gives us just about one-minute of footage, highlighting a post-apocalyptic vision of Las Vegas and the *thousands upon thousands* of zombies that now call the place home. And yes, there’s of course at least one zombie walking around dressed as Elvis, which feels like a total homage to the “celebrity lookalike” zombies in Dawn of the Dead.
There’s also a shot of a vehicle trapped in a literal sea of zombies, another little moment that brings Snyder’s Dawn of the Dead to mind. It doesn’t appear that Army of the Dead is any sort of sequel to that movie, but it’s clearly cut from the same cloth and it’s great to see Snyder playing around with zombies again for the first time in nearly twenty years.
