‘Dolly’: Florence Pugh Set to Star in Sci-fi Movie About a Robotic Companion Doll on Trial for Murder

Fresh off Midsommar, Florence Pugh will continue hanging out in the genre space with the upcoming Dolly, Deadline reports today, which has been picked up by Apple TV+.

Vanessa Taylor and Drew Pearce are scripting, and a director hasn’t yet been found.

This one has a wild synopsis, and we cannot to see how it pans out…

“The film is a sci-fi courtroom drama in which a robotic “companion doll” kills its owner and then shocks the world by claiming that she is not guilty and asking for a lawyer.”

Deadline notes that the movie is inspired by a short story of the same name that was written by Elizabeth Bear, and the story has “elements of classic courtroom drama and sci-fi.”
