The Title of Neill Blomkamp’s Secret Horror Film Is ‘Demonic’

While originally set to bring Ripley back in an Alien sequel that would have retconned several sequels, while also once attached to the next RoboCop for Orion, director Neill Blomkamp (District 9, Elysium, Chappie) went in a different direction by launching his own production company. He’s since released several insanely cool short films that have all led up to him secretly shooting a new horror feature in British Columbia over the summer, all during the pandemic.

Now, ScreenDaily has learned that Blomkamp’s horror feature has been titled Demonic and will be screening by AGC Studios at the forthcoming virtual edition of the EFM.

When originally announced by Deadline, they referred to the film as a supernatural horror movie, with “a strong sci-fi and VFX component.”

While it’s unclear if the same project, Blomkamp was attached to direct Inferno for AGC Studios, a supernatural horror film that would star the criminally underrated Taylor Kitsch. In that film, “Kitsch would have played a cop who is called to investigate a seemingly ordinary murder in the New Mexico desert. The arrival of the FBI confirms his suspicions that something bigger – perhaps extraterrestrial – is at play. The hunt for the killer puts him face-to-face with a humanoid beast who will stop at nothing to exterminate the one witness to the crime.”

Is this the same project? We don’t know yet.

As previously noted, Blomkamp has recently been directing shorts including RakkaFirebase and Zygote.
