‘Train to Busan’: Timo Tjahjanto Directing Remake for James Wan!

A Bloody Disgusting favorite, Timo Tjahjanto has been hired to direct a remake of the South Korean zombie epic Train to Busan for New Line Cinema, reports Deadline.

Tjahjanto has long been part of the Bloody Disgusting family, having co-directed our release of Macabre, as well as the V/H/S/2 favorite “Safe Haven”. He also helmed the ass-kicking actioneer The Night Comes for Us, as well as the Sam Raimi-esque May the Devil Take You and its sequel. He will also be directing a segment in our forthcoming V/H/S/94.

Train to Busan is being produced by Atomic Monster, which is headed by horror maestro James Wan. The prolific director behind Saw, Insidious, The Conjuring, and Aquaman, also produced the Mortal Kombat remake, which saw the trailer released this morning.

In the original, a zombie virus breaks out in South Korea, while passengers struggle to survive on the train from Seoul to Busan. It was directed by Sang-Ho Yeon and spawned a sequel and an animated prequel.

Adds the site: Atomic Monster’s Michael Clear, and Gaumont’s Nicolas Atlan and Terry Kalagian will also produce alongside Coin Operated’s Gary Dauberman who is adapting the screenplay. Judson Scott, Sidonie Dumas, Christophe Riandee and Johanna Byer are executive producing.
