While the movie itself is a bit of a miss, there’s a lot to like about Mike P. Nelson‘s (The Domestics) new take on Wrong Turn, which modernizes the slasher and takes it in some wild new directions.
In fact, Wrong Turn leaves the door open for a sequel, if not multiple follow-ups.
Spoilers below, as a word of warning…
Nelson appeared on Bloody Disgusting’s The Boo Crew Podcast this week, where he provided some big teases for the potential next installment of Wrong Turn.
“There’s nothing set in stone or anything for certain, but [writer] Alan [McElroy] and I have been throwing around some ideas and we think it’d be pretty cool if we were ever given that opportunity,” Nelson told The Boo Crew. “I’d love to keep going. I think there’s a really unique second chapter to this that again would be very unexpected and you’d get to see – Jen would be fucking some shit up again, don’t you worry about that!“
Charlotte Vega plays Jen in Wrong Turn, who, with a group of friends, set out to hike the Appalachian Trail. Despite warnings to stick to the trail, the hikers stray off course—and cross into land inhabited by The Foundation, a hidden community of mountain dwellers who use deadly means to protect their way of life.
“Suddenly under siege, Jen and her friends seem headed to the point of no return— unless Jen’s father (Golden Globe nominee Matthew Modine) can reach them in time.”
