Last summer it was announced that Roar Uthaug, the filmmaker behind Cold Prey, The Wave and the recent Tomb Raider reboot for Lionsgate, would be directing his own monster movie for Netflix.
Today, we have a teaser look at Troll, Uthaug’s Netflix monster movie that’s based on Norwegian folklore. The concept art/promotional image reveals that this troll is as big as Godzilla. The photo comes with a grant announcement via NFI.
“The Norwegian language action and adventure film is set deep inside the mountain of Dovre as something gigantic awakens after being trapped for a thousand years. Destroying everything in its path, the creature is fast approaching the capital of Norway. But how do you stop something you thought only existed in Norwegian folklore?”
“Troll is an idea that has been developing in the back of my mind for over 20 years,” Uthaug said in a statement originally posted to The Wrap. “To finally be able to realize it with the enthusiastic and ambitious people at Netflix and Motion Blur is truly a dream come true. I can’t wait to unleash this Norwegian monster on the world.”
Troll is currently set to stomp its way onto Netflix sometime in 2022.
