Crypt TV’s ‘Girl in the Woods’ Getting a Peacock Series With Krysten Ritter and Jacob Chase Directing

Crypt TV‘s The Door in the Woods and The Girl in the Woods are getting a television series adaptation from Peacock, Deadline reports, with the project titled “Girl in the Woods.”

The first four episodes of the series will be directed by Krysten Ritter (“Jessica Jones”). The other epsiodes of the eight-episode series will be directed by Jacob Chase (Come Play).

Deadline notes that the series will feature a new cast.

“Set in the Pacific Northwest, Girl In The Woods follows Carrie’s escape from her mysterious, cult-like colony that guards the world from monsters hidden behind a secret door within the woods.”

“As a huge fan of horror and all things coming of age, this is one of the most exciting pilot scripts I’ve gotten my hands on. I fell in love with the characters, the writing, the setting, and the themes the second I read it,” said Ritter. “I also loved Crypt’s original short The Door in the Woods and the universe they are building.  I’m so thrilled to have the opportunity to helm this badass female driven monster hunting series with Jane Casey Modderno, Crypt and Peacock.”

Casey Modderno (The Birch) is adapting the two short films from Crypt TV.
