Grace Gummer Joins Showtime’s “Let the Right One In” Pilot

John Ajvide Lindqvist’s novel became the incredible Swedish movie Let the Right One In back in 2008, which spawned the American remake Let Me In just a couple years later. The vampire tale is now headed to the small screen, as we recently learned that Showtime has ordered up a pilot episode of a potential series with Demián Bichir (The Nun) attached to star.

Anika Noni Rose (“Power,” “Them”) has also signed on, and Deadline reports today that Grace Gummer (“Mr. Robot,” pictured above) will also be a leading member of the cast.

Deadline details, “The series centers on a father, Mark (Bichir) and his 12-year-old daughter whose lives were changed forever 10 years earlier when she was turned into a vampire. Locked in at age 12, perhaps forever, Eleanor lives a closed-in life, able to go out only at night, while her father does his best to provide her with the minimal amount of human blood she needs to stay alive.”

“Gummer will play Claire, the heiress of a pharmaceutical empire and is a brilliant scientist who turned down the family’s billion-dollar business to pursue a humbler, nobler career in disease research. But her life gets turned upside down when her estranged, ailing father summons her home and reveals a terrible secret.”

Andrew Hinderaker (Away) is the showrunner, with Seith Mann (Homeland) directing.

The project hails from Tomorrow Studios, who have been trying to get a “Let the Right One In” series off the ground for the last several years now, previously set up at A&E and TNT.
