The first season of Silence of the Lambs sequel series “Clarice” will be wrapping up next month, and with millions of people watching, it sounds like we’re getting a second season.
The second season, however, may not be airing on CBS. Deadline reports that “Clarice” is moving to the streaming service Paramount+ for its planned second season.
Deadline reports, “Freshman Clarice‘s second season will stream exclusively on Paramount+. Reps for the streamer and CBS Studios, which produces the series, declined comment.”
The site continues, “With delayed viewing, Clarice is averaging 6.1 million viewers on CBS but in Live+Same Day, it has been the lowest rated and least watched series on the broadcast network. However, the serialized drama, a sequel to The Silence Of the Lambs, has been a strong performer on Paramount+. It is a tailor-made show for streaming.”
Streaming has continually allowed for shows to either continue or get revived after cancellation, with the various services providing something of a safety net for various different projects. It sounds like “Clarice” would potentially come to an end with just one season if the only option was to air it on CBS, but Paramount+ may be swooping in to save the day.
In the ’90s-set series, “A year after rescuing Catherine Martin (Marnee Carpenter) from the horror of Buffalo Bill’s basement, FBI Agent Clarice Starling (Rebecca Breeds) gets an urgent assignment from Catherine’s mother, Attorney General Ruth Martin (Jayne Atkinson), to join the Violent Criminal Apprehension Program (VICAP) in the investigation of three serial killings.”
