Zombies Attacked WWE Event Last Night in Promotion of Zack Snyder’s ‘Army of the Dead’ [Videos]

Yes, even Zombie Elvis.

It’s always fun, or at the very least amusing, when the worlds of professional wrestling and horror collide, and last night’s WWE event WrestleMania Backlash was one of those times.

As a special marketing promotion for Zack Snyder‘s new Netflix zombie movie Army of the Dead – in limited theaters now and coming to Netflix this Friday, May 21st – zombies officially made their way into World Wrestling Entertainment, with a group of the undead monsters serving as the lumberjacks in a bizarre match between The Miz and Damian Priest.

For those who aren’t wrestling fans, a Lumberjack Match sees wrestlers competing inside the ring while enforcers outside the ring make sure nobody is able to leave, and the lumberjacks in this particular match were of the flesh-eating variety. Naturally, they ended up getting involved in the match, descending upon the ring to… well… devour The Miz after his loss.

It would be fair to wonder if Miz will be a zombie next time we see him on television, but we’re putting our money on this whole thing being forgotten by the time the next show airs.

Dave Bautista, former WWE superstar and star of Army of the Dead, had teased earlier in the night that some “friends” would be showing up at the event, and he later humorously responded to fans criticizing the marketing stunt and his involvement. This is hardly the first time WWE has gone “full supernatural,” of course, with some fans loving it and others hating it.

WWE commentator Corey Graves at least had some fun with the match, giving a shout-out to Dawn of the Dead filming location the Monroeville Mall – where he used to work growing up!

You can check out some video clips from WrestleMania Backlash below, including Bautista’s intro to the event, a couple backstage gags, and a portion of the Zombie Lumberjack Match.

Meanwhile, we’re still waiting on that Shayna Baszler horror movie

The Top 10 Streaming Scary Movies of Today (According to Netflix)

Given that Netflix really is the master of their own data, how many times a viewer streams The Ridiculous 6, or what films don't get watched all the way straight through, or how many times someone watches an episode of Bill Nye Saves the World, it was easy for them to come up with the list based on just one percentage: 70 percent.
