‘The Occult World of Sabrina’ Comic Series Will Pick Up Where Netflix’s “Sabrina” Series Left Off

Netflix’s series “Chilling Adventures of Sabrina” came to an end after 36 episodes late last year, but creator Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa is continuing the storyline in the world of comics.

Deadline reports that The Occult World of Sabrina will pick up where the Kiernan Shipka-starring Netflix series left off, and it’ll be its own comic series separate from the original comic series the Netflix show was based on (which is also coming back in October!).

Aguirre-Sacasa explains to Deadline…

“When I got word we weren’t doing any additional parts or seasons we had already suspected four would be the last part, so we really wanted to go out with a bang. We had Sabrina sacrifice herself to save her family, her friends, her town. On the other hand, we didn’t know definitely so we did end on a cliffhanger. I finished editing the finale at the beginning of the pandemic and pitched a possible part five to Netflix which would’ve produced Archie, Betty, Veronica, Jughead, and all the Riverdale characters as witches and there would’ve been a witch war between the witches in Greendale versus all of these witches and warlocks in Riverdale. Netflix was excited about that idea but due to the pandemic, it didn’t feel possible.”

“The cliffhanger was going to be Sabrina’s family trying to pull her back from the afterlife,” Aguirre-Sacasa also notes, teasing the storyline at play in The Occult World of Sabrina.

He teases the upcoming comic series in further detail, “When we start that series, it’s exactly as it ended in the Netflix series with Sabrina and Nick in the sweet hereafter and her family and friends in Greendale are trying to live in a world without Sabrina. We’ll see how her loved ones have been doing since Sabrina sacrificed herself. The first thing Zelda does is recruit a team of their family and friends to go into the underworld to bring Sabrina back to life.”

Head over to Deadline to read the website’s full chat with Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa, wherein he also suggests we maybe haven’t seen the last of Kiernan Shipka as a live-action Sabrina…

The Top 10 Streaming Scary Movies of Today (According to Netflix)

Given that Netflix really is the master of their own data, how many times a viewer streams The Ridiculous 6, or what films don't get watched all the way straight through, or how many times someone watches an episode of Bill Nye Saves the World, it was easy for them to come up with the list based on just one percentage: 70 percent.
