The Ghostbusters franchise has become a real family affair both on screen and behind the scenes with Ghostbusters: Afterlife, with Jason Reitman co-writing and directing the sequel to the original classic that was of course directed by his father, Ivan Reitman. And the sequel’s storyline, well, it’s entirely centered around the idea of family and family legacy in particular.
While paying tribute to his dad’s most iconic and beloved film, Jason Reitman made sure to include Ivan Reitman in the process, having him make a cameo appearance in the movie!
Jason Reitman revealed on Instagram over the long holiday weekend that Ivan Reitman strapped on the Proton Pack for the Easter Egg cameo, which took the form of an insert shot.
Reitman explains, “Directing dad. For an insert shot of Venkman firing up his proton pack, we brought in the hands of another Ghostbuster. My favorite Easter egg.”
