‘Resident Evil Village’ Wins “Game of the Year” From 2021 Steam Awards

Despite missing out on Game of the Year honours at The Game Awards, Capcom’s Resident Evil Village rebounded with the honour from the fans and Steam. Village beat out the likes of Valheim, Cyberpunk 2077 (which was released in 2020, but whatever) and Forza Horizon 5 to earn the win during the 2021 Steam Awards.

Horror was represented in other categories (though not as lucky), with Blair Witch VR Edition being nominated for VR Game of the Year, Back 4 Blood in the Better With Friends category, Little Nightmares II for Outstanding Visual Style, and Days Gone (with Village again) for Outstanding Story-Rich Game. The only other genre winner was Nioh 2 – The Complete Edition in the Best Game You Suck At category.

Deathloop snagged another award, this time in the Most Innovative Gameplay category, beating out Devolver Digital’s Inscryption and Annapurna Interactive’s Twelve Minutes.

Meanwhile, all of the nominees and winners are still enjoying their discounts during the Steam Winter Sale, which ends January 5th, so get in on the deals.

As for Village, we’re still waiting on that DLC (free or otherwise). And of course, Resident Evil Re:Verse, which is expected sometime this year.
