‘A Plague Tale: Innocence’ to Receive TV Adaptation by ‘Meander’ Director Mathieu Turi

Add Asobo’s A Plague Tale: Innocence to the list of upcoming video game-to-TV series adaptations. According to French publication Allocine, the adaptation of A Plague Tale will have French director Mathieu Turi (who directed 2017’s Hostile and 2020’s Meander) directing the series, while Merlin Productions and the game’s publisher, Focus Entertainment, will be in charge of producing.

The series will be filmed in France, which makes sense, given that Innocence takes place in 14th Century France. “It is fundamental for me that our productions reflect French talents and know-how,” says Fabrice Renault, head of Merlin Productions. “A Plague Tale is a game designed in Bordeaux by Asobo that we produce with a company based in Paris; its creators had the opportunity to sell the adaptation in the United States, but they preferred to work with French people: I want to return that trust to them.”

Turi himself took to Twitter to express his excitement with being involved in the project. “I can’t wait to bring Amicia and Hugo’s journey to the screen!”

A Plague Tale: Innocence (check out our take here) is available on PC via Steam and the Epic Games Store, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, and the Xbox Series. Meanwhile, Innocence‘s sequel, A Plague Tale: Requiem, is due out in later this year for PC and the Xbox Series.
