New Gameplay Footage for ‘Thymesia’ Sees Its Dodging Mechanic in Action [Watch]

Despite unfortunate delay announced last year for OverBorder Studio’s upcoming dark action RPG Thymesia, one can focus on the positives. Such as, it doesn’t have to compete with Elden Ring, and it gives the devs the time to polish the game.

To give fans an update on said development, OverBorder Studio has released a brief gameplay video focusing on Thymesia‘s dodge mechanics. “In Thymesia, the dodging mechanic is an integral part of Corvus’ apparatus,” explains the narrator. Indeed, having to “dance” with your enemy to create openings for attack is necessary for any Soulslike, and here it’s no exception.

The video also touches on the game’s ability tree that allows you to upgrade your dodging, allowing you to dodge repeatedly, as well as go on offence. Best of all, you can time your dodge to allow you to land critical strikes on your opponent, which will no doubt help in a game that presumably will be unforgiving in its difficulty.

Thymesia tells the story of a kingdom that discovers there’s a price to pay for dabbling in alchemy. The resulting attempt to stop its use has resulted in the kingdom being swarmed with monsters. It’s up to the game’s protagonist, Corvus, to stop the monsters, as well as reclaim his memory in the process.

Thymesia is currently in development for the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series as well as Steam.
