‘John Wick’ Universe Movie ‘Ballerina’ Starring Ana de Armas Will Film This Summer

Originally announced a few years back, the John Wick Cinematic Universe is getting its first spinoff movie with Ballerina, and Ana de Armas is on board to lead the movie’s cast.

Lionsgate revealed during their CinemaCon presentation last night that Ballerina is very much still on the way, with filming on the John Wick spinoff set to begin this summer!

Last we heard, Len Wiseman (Underworld, “Swamp Thing”) was directing Ballerina.

Ballerina focuses on a young female assassin who seeks revenge against the people who killed her family.”

Revealed in Chapter 3, Anjelica Huston’s character the Director trains ballerinas in the same facility where Wick was trained to be an assassin, so the groundwork has already been laid.

With three installments and a fourth one on the way, the John Wick franchise has only been getting more and more popular as the years go on, so it’s only natural that the franchise is aiming to become a full-on cinematic universe. The best part? It’s hardly a forced idea, as the franchise is absolutely *loaded* with compelling mythology that’s ripe for expansion.

As for John Wick Chapter 4, expect that one in March 2023!
