Hideo Kojima Reveals Halted Project Similar to “The Boys” That Would’ve Starred Mads Mikkelsen

With the continued success of Amazon’s The Boys, one wonders if it’d make for a good video game. Well, it turns out that Hideo Kojima may have had something very similar to The Boys in the works.

In his usual observations on Twitter, Kojima revealed recently that after returning to watching the Eric Kripke-developed series, Kojima stated that at the time of the first season, he was just about to kick off a project that he had “been warming up for a long time”. The project, despite having different settings and “tricks”, was very similar to Amazon’s hit series. So much so, that Hideo Kojima’s project had to be put on hold after The Boys launched in 2019.

Kojima’s project was to be “[a] buddy (male/female) thing” involving a special detective squad that would face off against legendary heroes “behind the scenes”. Oh, and it would have had Mads Mikkelsen as the lead. It’s not clear if this would have been a game, or Kojima wading into a new medium. After all, Kojima Productions had launched a film division last November.

Despite this, Kojima has his hands full. In addition to announcing a partnership with Xbox Game Studios on his next title, there’s also that rumour regarding the Overdose project, a horror title starring Death Stranding‘s Margaret Qualley. Neither has had any details announced just yet.

Meanwhile, Season 3 of The Boys is currently streaming on Amazon Prime.
