Believe it or not, Cinedigm, Bloody Disgusting, and SCREAMBOX’s release of Terrifier 2 is unprecedented. I don’t know how we did it, but we brought an uncut, uncompromised, 138-minute-long ultra slasher to nearly 900 movie theaters across the country (with drive-ins also playing the film throughout October). Oh, and Damien Leone‘s epic slasher is also an indie film.
Terrifier 2 is special for one particular reason – it’s fan-driven. The film wasn’t studio-backed and we had no money for marketing. Everything was grassroots and done for the love of the film and the genre. This is a unique moment in horror history we’re all participants in.
With all that said, we’re beyond excited to report that Terrifier 2 earned an astounding $400,000 in its special event slot this past Thursday night.
The chaos continues through the weekend with this shocking update: Terrifier 2 has earned an estimated $1.22M through Sunday.
To understand this better, the film averaged $453 per theater (on Thursday), which is only second to Paramount’s wide-release Smile. Of the 20 new movies that opened in theaters last night, Terrifier 2 performed the second best. The film is a hit with critics and fans alike, currently Certified Fresh on Rotten Tomatoes with a 90% critic score and a 93% audience score as of this writing.
While Terrifier 2 will eventually make its way to the Bloody Disgusting-powered SCREAMBOX, horror fans can still catch this epic bloodbath in theaters over the next week. It’s the perfect way to kick off the Halloween season, and we can absolutely promise that it’ll be one of the wildest and most unforgettable theatrical experiences you have EVER had.

The highly anticipated sequel to the cult-favorite slasher film welcomes back David Howard Thornton as the demonic killer, Art the Clown.
