“Interview with the Vampire” – Bailey Bass No Longer Playing Claudia in AMC’s Series

A second season of AMC’s “Interview with the Vampire” is on the way, but one actor who won’t be returning is Bailey Bass. After playing the role of Claudia in the show’s first season, Deadline reports that Bass is exiting the role. Delainey Hayles will now be playing Claudia.

“Bailey Bass is a talented actor who did a remarkable job bringing the character of Claudia to life in Anne Rice’s Interview with the Vampire. For a variety of reasons, Delainey Hayles will appear as Claudia in season two,” AMC said in a statement. “We are grateful for Bailey’s unforgettable performance in season one and wish her nothing but the best.”

Bass said in her own statement, “Due to a variety of unforeseen circumstances I’m unable to return to Anne Rice’s Interview with the Vampire for the second season.

“Playing Claudia has been a dream role and an incredible ride. I wish Delainey the best of luck in taking over. I cannot wait to watch. I’m extremely appreciative of AMC, the producers, Jacob, Sam, the crew and, of course, the wonderful fans.”

Claudia is a central role in the world of “Interview with the Vampire,” the character originally played by Kirsten Dunst on screen in the 1994 film adaptation of Anne Rice’s novel.

The series, which debuted last year, is a “modern, unforgettable retelling of Anne Rice’s best-selling novel.” Rolin Jones (“Friday Night Lights”) serves as the showrunner.
