Five Ultra Gory Horror Movies to Stream This Week

It’s Monday. That might leave you seeing red. So, we’re celebrating accordingly by embracing horror movies that massively deliver on the red stuff. This week’s streaming picks showcase some of horror’s goriest offerings that wield the gore in various ways. Some use excessive bloodletting to elicit a laugh, while others aim to put you through an extreme gauntlet of visceral terror. These ultra-gory horror movies are all available on streaming now.

As always, here’s where you can watch them this week.

City of the Living Dead – AMC+, Kanopy, Pluto TV, Shudder, Tubi, Vudu

City of the Living Dead

What’s a gory horror list without the Italian Godfather of Gore, Lucio Fulci? It seems appropriate to kickstart this week with the first entry in his “Gates of Hell” trilogy. The plot sees a reporter and a psychic try to close the gates of Hell before zombies invade Earth and render it an apocalyptic wasteland. With scenes that feature a woman barfing up her guts, well, it doesn’t get much more gruesome than this. Make it a blood-drenched triple feature with The Beyond (on SCREAMBOX) and The House by the Cemetery (on Shudder).

Martyrs – AMC+, Plex, Pluto TV, Shudder, Tubi, Vudu

Martyrs

Pascal Laugier’s extreme French horror film is not for the faint of heart or weak of stomach. Anna and Lucie’s journey is an uncomfortable descent into madness, from beginning to end. It’s made even more dizzying in that each new act marks a major shift in style, tone, and story. It plays like multiple movies in one, each one somehow much more primitive, bloodier, and extreme than the last. The gore offers no reprieve from the oppressively heavy mood, making for a discomforting watch you won’t forget.

Pieces – AMC+, Crackle, Fandor, Peacock, Plex, Pluto TV, Roku, SCREAMBOX, Shudder, Tubi

Pieces

Juan Piquer Simon’s ultra-gory slasher has a bonkers reputation that precedes it, delivering one of horror’s most entertaining viewing experiences of all time. The tagline, “It’s exactly what you think it is!” only scratches the surface of the weirdness within. Sure, you get exactly what you expect in terms of gore when it features a jigsaw puzzle-obsessed killer with a chainsaw, but the execution is so over the top there’s nothing that really prepares you for the madness. It’s a blast.

Terrifier 2 – SCREAMBOX

TERRIFIER 2 | Screambox and Bloody Disgusting

No film dominated the zeitgeist last year quite like Damien Leone’s megaslasher sequel. Terrifier 2 quickly went viral during its historic run box office run, popping up everywhere in the news. The world went crazy for Art the Clown (David Howard Thornton), badass final girl Sienna (Lauren LaVera), and Leone’s elaborate death pieces for good reason. It’s an epic-sized sequel with gore aplenty and grisly deaths to match. While Terrifier 2 makes for one of the most recent entries on this list, it’s Monday and Art’s sadistic sense of humor might help you get through.

Tokyo Gore Police – Crunchyroll, Tubi, Vudu

Ultra Gory Horror - Tokyo Gore Police

Let’s get weird. In the near future, a mad scientist in Japan created a virus that causes weapons to sprout from bodily injury. A privatized police force is tasked with dealing with this new mutant threat. Directed by Yoshihiro Nishimura, Tokyo Gore Police is a splatter flick that goes just as heavy on the bonkers mutant designs as it does the gore. It’s batshit in every way. Tokyo Gore Police brings the blood rain via arterial spray, beating Fede Alvarez’s Evil Dead to the punch by five years.
