‘Turok 3: Shadow of Oblivion’ Remaster Pushed to November 30th

Much like what happened with Rise of The Triad: Ludicrous Edition fans, those waiting to get their hands on Nightdive’s remaster of Turok 3: Shadow of Oblivion will have to wait a little while longer. Previously set for a November 14th release, Nightdive has now announced that Turok 3 will instead be arriving for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, and PC via Steam on November 30th.

No reason was given for the delay, but given the amount of enhancements and restored content that Nightdive is working back into the game, it’s understandable. What “enhancements”, you ask? Well, alongside the already-announced “improved visual fidelity, modern graphical techniques, and highly upgraded performance for up to 4K 120FPS”, here’s a more specific breakdown of some of the changes Nightdive has incorporated into their remaster of Turok 3:

  • Optional Motion/Gyro controls for Nintendo Switch console and Gamepad rumble
  • Improved Lighting and Shadows
  • Higher Quality Textures faithfully recreated using the developer’s original assets where possible
  • Higher geometry details throughout all levels, which includes adding in props that were cut due to the Nintendo 64’s hardware limitations
  • Higher quality character, enemy, and weapon models
  • Improved facial, character, and enemy animations
  • Remastered Music
  • In-game and cinematic subtitles in 5 languages
  • More enemies on harder difficulties
  • More Gore and Gibs
  • Achievements
  • Restored Content

As for that last point, the “restored content” includes things ranging from the small (the player HUD from the beta displays the character’s silhouette) to the huge (Danny has her wedding ring during the opening cinematics). Okay, that last part isn’t the most noticeable, but Nightdive has done their due diligence with adding in things from the original Turok 3 beta that were cut from the final release, including small aesthetic changes (flashing icons), as well as the more noticeable ones (restored death animations and attacks).
