The Horror Game Awards Packs Plenty of Reveals in Its Summer Showcase [Watch]

With Summer Game Fest happening this Friday, The Horror Game Awards got the jump on Geoff and company this past weekend with their own Summer Showcase. Hosted by Phil Dickens, Ash Millman and Will Penkeyman, the showcase unveiled new titles, exclusive trailers for in-development titles such as Baptiste and Tenebris Somnia, as well as new gameplay footage reveals.

Rather than going through each and every title in the two-hour showcase (80+ titles, to be exact), here are a couple of highlights:

Out now in Early Access on Steam, Troglobytes Games’ RailGods of Hysterra made an appearance during the showcase with a new trailer. For those that missed it, RailGods of Hysterra brings players into a world of waking nightmares alone or as a co-op group of up to five players. H.P. Lovecraft’s Old Gods have twisted the earth and its inhabitants into unspeakable horrors. Defy their might with a team of Dreamers and by forging a bond with a powerful RailGod, an ancient abomination from beyond the stars, wearing a mighty locomotive as its shell. And check out Harrison’s Early Access review of the game.

Fresh from their first efforts earlier this year in Fear The Spotlight, Blumhouse Games dropped a new sizzle reel for more of their upcoming titles. The trailer includes sneak peeks of
EYES OUT’s Sleep Awake, Vermila Studios’ Crisol: Theater of Idols, Perfect Garbage’s Grave Seasons, and hints at “something new”.

Madmind Studio’s long-in-development Tormentor showed up with a new gameplay reveal. The title, which recently launched an IndieGogo campaign for its development, has players taking on the role of the eponymous Tormentor, who manages an abandoned prison. You’re in need of an experimental drug to help combat your progressing illness, and as such, you’ve resorted to hosting live-streaming events on the dark web where victims that have already been sentenced to death are tortured in the prison. After their torture, they’re set loose to battle to the death in the labyrinth of the prison against you.

If you haven’t yet checked out the demo for Haunting Humans Studio’s alien abduction title Who Are You?!, the latest trailer will certainly give you a reason to do so. Coming later this year to Steam, Who Are You!? follows Ray Roswell, who lost his wife 20 years ago in what apparently could be an alien abduction. Now, his only daughter has gone missing. In his search for her, Ray not only embarks on a physical journey but also confronts the emotional and psychological trauma of his past.

With Demon Spore coming out next month, Null Games and developer DinoBoss dropped a new trailer for the the 80s monster movie send-up. While it uses parts of the previously-released animated trailer, there’s more gameplay to be seen this time around.
