DreadXP’s White Knuckle and VILE: Exhumed Score 2025 Indie Game Awards Nominations

'White Knuckle'

DreadXP is celebrating two killer nominations at this year’s Indie Game Awards, where both VILE: Exhumed by Cara Cadaver and White Knuckle from Dark Machine Games have been nominated across two categories. The full list of nominees is available on the Indie Game Awards website.

Nominated for Solo Development, CadaverVILE: Exhumed is an unsettling and important narrative horror experience built around exploring an old computer and uncovering disturbing truths about parasocial obsession and misogyny. The game features references to assault, violence against women, and graphic imagery—content deliberately designed to confront real-world horror.

Originally planned for a July 22, 2025 Steam release, the title was reportedly wrongly banned from the site, leading to a release independent of the platform.

Meanwhile, White Knuckle has been nominated in the Women-Led Indie Game category. Developed by Dark Machine Games, the first-person speed-climbing title challenges players to escape maddening depths through momentum-driven movement and rapidly escalating threats. Still unreleased, its demo has received major interest from fans and industry experts.

The 2025 Indie Game Awards will stream live on December 18 at 3:30 PM PT / 6:30 PM ET. You can watch the show on IGN, GameSpot, and Six One Indie across YouTube and Twitch.

DreadXP champions bold, creator-led horror. As a leading independent publisher, our cousin company has supported and released acclaimed titles including The Mortuary AssistantSucker for Love: First DateMy Friendly Neighborhood, Amanda the Adventurer, and the Dread X Collections anthology series.
