Savini – an actor, director, and pioneering special effects artist whose groundbreaking work shaped films from Friday the 13th to Dawn of the Dead and The Texas Chainsaw Massacre 2 – was likely responsible for whatever terrified or disgusted you in the ’80s.
“I consider Tom Savini my first FX teacher. I learned how to sculpt, mold and even punch hair reading Tom’s incredible ‘Grande Illusions’ books where he shared the secrets behind his inspiring makeup effects and creature work,” said Regal Robot company founder, Tom Spina.
“I spent countless hours as a teenager in my basement laboratory, following the tips in those books and making rubber heads and monsters! In the years since, as a film prop conservationist, my studio has had the honor of restoring incredible treasures of Savini film history from Creepshow, Friday the 13th, Tales from the Dark Side, Day of the Dead, and more! When we dreamed up the Icons line, Tom Savini was one of the first on our list and we’re so honored to pay tribute to this legend and his work!”
