Obsession crossed $100M, Backrooms is going to open north of $80M, and Paramount Pictures’ Scary Movie is looking at a $50M+ opening next week.
The sixth Scary Movie is poking fun at all of the hottest horror films, so why wouldn’t they have a little fun with Backrooms in what could be the film’s final trailer?
For those keeping count, here are some of the movies lampooned in Scary Movie: Terrifier 3, Weapons, Sinners, A Quiet Place, Halloween, Annabelle, MA, Get Out, The Substance, and M3GAN – it even takes multiple jabs (or stabs, if you will) at the new Scream films, which is the main reason the 2000 Scary Movie is so damn good.
Paramount Pictures will release Scary Movie in theaters everywhere on June 5.
Marlon Wayans (Shorty), Shawn Wayans (Ray), Anna Faris (Cindy), and Regina Hall (Brenda) reunite in Scary Movie alongside returning favorites and fresh faces to slash through reboots, remakes, requels, prequels, sequels, spin-offs, elevated horror, origin stories, anything with the word legacy in it, and every “final chapter” that absolutely isn’t final. Nothing is sacred. No trope survives. Every line gets crossed. The Wayans are back to cancel the Cancel Culture.
