Victorian Psycho looks like a wickedly good time.
The first teaser trailer for Victorian Psycho has arrived, previewing a morbidly funny, cruel, satirical, and intentionally uncomfortable thriller packed with gothic chaos, bursts of brutal violence, and pulsing metal music. Directed by Zachary Wigon (Sanctuary) and adapted by author Virginia Feito from her own novel, the film stars Maika Monroe (Longlegs, It Follows) as an eccentric governess whose arrival at a remote Victorian estate quickly spirals into madness and bloodshed.
The film premiered last week Cannes, where early reactions praised its pitch-black humor and savage tone, comparing the movie to a collision between Jane Eyre and American Psycho.
The official synopsis reads: “In 1858, a young, eccentric governess named Winifred Notty arrives at the remote gothic manor known as Ensor House. As Winifred assimilates into life at Ensor House, staff members begin to inexplicably disappear, and the owners of the estate begin to wonder if something is amiss about their new governess.”
The cast also includes Thomasin McKenzie (Last Night in Soho), Jason Isaacs (Harry Potter, The White Lotus), and Ruth Wilson (I Am the Pretty Thing That Lives in the House). Victorian Psycho hits theaters on September 25, 2026.
