Vibrant ‘Hot Spot’ Character Posters Give Off Cyberpunk Energy

Focus Features is on a tear right now, hitting the ground running with Ready or Not 2 and then breaking all kinds of box office records with Obsession.

Next up is Hot Spot, a high-octane sci-fi thriller from Agnieszka Smoczyńska, the filmmaker behind the unique and hypnotic The Lure.

The trailer already blew our minds, delivering a brutal, bloody sci-fi world with the sort of delirious camerawork that vaguely recalls the best of Albert Pyun (Cyborg, Nemesis).

The newly released character posters showcase the film’s leads in striking neon-orange and magenta portraits streaked with cascading bands of light, reinforcing the sci-fi thriller’s glitchy, cyberpunk aesthetic.

In Hot Spot, set in a near future society ruled by sentient A.I., a private eye investigates a murder case only to discover a rebel group capable of undermining the digital overlord.

Andrzej Konopka (The Lure) and Noomi Rapace (Prometheus) star.

Hot Spot is officially rated R for “strong violent content, gore, graphic nudity, sexual content and brief language.”

We’ll be hooking into Hot Spot when the film releases in theaters on August 21, 2026.
