Brazilian Slasher ‘Skull: The Mask’ Brings the Gore, Practical Effects and Total Insanity [Trailer]

Easily the craziest-looking film world premiering as part of this weekend’s virtual Chattanooga Film Festival is Skull: The Mask, a slasher loaded with blood, guts and practical effects.

Kapel Furman and Armando Fonseca directed Skull, being described as a “mystical slasher film” and a “Brazilian bloodbath.” The film, which looks a bit like a Brazilian version of Jason Goes to Hell, “channels Jason Voorhees with the story of an ancient mask that possesses the human form to commit visceral sacrifices of vengeance for the incarnation of its God.”

Here’s the full plot synopsis:

“In the year 1944, an artifact is used in a military experiment. The artifact is the Mask of Anhangá, the executioner of Tahawantinsupay, a Pre-Columbian God. The experience fails. Nowadays, the Mask arrives at Sao Paulo. The Mask possesses a body and starts to commit visceral sacrifices on vengeance for the incarnation of its God, initiating a blood bath. The policewoman Beatriz Obdias is in charge of the crimes, challenging her beliefs.”

Check out the trailer below and watch Skull right now via the Chattanooga Film Festival. The festival runs online today through May 25th, and you can GET YOUR BADGE RIGHT HERE.
