‘Event Horizon’ Coming to Scream Factory Blu-ray With New Extras; Search Underway for Any Additional Footage

Scream Factory has announced today that Paul W.S. Anderson‘s fan favorite 1997 space horror flick Event Horizon is coming to Collector’s Edition Blu-ray this coming Fall!

The “upgraded & definitive Blu-ray release” is set to arrive on September 29th.

“Please note that the date could change as we are still experiencing a domino effect from the COVID situation–which has caused numerous delays for earlier releases in our schedule, as you have seen,” the company posted on Facebook today. “We’ll do our best to keep this date of course, but we’re still in an unprecedented time in which getting access to talent for extras or setting up film transfers are more challenging than they were before. We appreciate your understanding now and in advance and hopefully there will be some stabilization.”

“New extras are in progress and will be announced on a later date,” Scream Factory adds. “We can confirm today that we are doing a new 4K scan of the film! As for any much-inquired-about additional footage (in addition to what’s be presented on prior releases), we are looking into it as best we can. We welcome any leads you may have alongside our efforts.”

They’re referring to the gruesome “Director’s Cut” footage that we’ve still never seen, and which may be completely lost at this point in time. But we’ve learned to never say never.

If anyone can track it down, it’s Scream Factory. So here’s hoping…

The Top 10 Streaming Scary Movies of Today (According to Netflix)

Given that Netflix really is the master of their own data, how many times a viewer streams The Ridiculous 6, or what films don't get watched all the way straight through, or how many times someone watches an episode of Bill Nye Saves the World, it was easy for them to come up with the list based on just one percentage: 70 percent.
