Original ‘[REC]’ Gets 4DX Theatrical Run in Spain

While there are currently no known plans to release this here in the States, Filmax is set to release Jaume Balagueró and Paco Plaza‘s terrifying found-footage masterpiece [REC] in 4DX theater starting next week, on July 10th. The release is to support the opening of Filmax’s second Gran Via Cinemas.

The 4DX technology incorporates up to 21 synchronized effects in the projection. Thanks to it, the viewer has the opportunity to see the main premieres with effects of movement, air, water, heat, aromas, vibrations, as well as weather elements such as fog, wind, lightning and bubbles.

In the film that spawned three sequels and a U.S. remake (Quarantine), a television reporter and cameraman follow emergency workers into a dark apartment building and are quickly locked inside with something terrifying.
