Latest ‘Resident Evil Village’ Playtest Rumours Reveal New Enemy, Potential New Character

With the rumour that Resident Evil Village would be receiving a new trailer this month, leave it to the folks at Biohazard Declassified to add even more to the pot with the recent RE Ambassador playtest which, according to the leak, apparently features a new location, new enemy type, and a second playable character. Again, none of this is confirmed at this point, and so consider it all speculation.

Anyhoo, the person who leaked the info claims to have been involved in one of the playtests that occurred before the release of Resident Evil 3 remake. Also, it appears that this playtest of Resident Evil Village was done on a Playstation 4 Pro.

According to the leaker, the playtest had them in a cave, similar to the final caves of Resident Evil 7. They were controlling a female character with a kerosene lantern, who may well be the same character in the reveal trailer. In this segment, they were unarmed, and your goal was to escape the caves. Furthermore, the cave itself was dark. As in, they had to have a representative help them adjust the brightness several times.

Also in the caves, the leaker happened upon the first new enemy type, which is different than the beast-men Village is purported to have. These new enemies were tall, with goat horns, furry, and bipedal. The source said that they carried swords, and also had the ability to grab and bite the player as well. The person compared them to Krampus, which again would fit in with the idea that enemies are based on mythical creatures.

In fact, the source also said that they ran across a file in the cave that called these new creatures “Strigoi”. Strigoi in fact are a Romanian mythology, akin to shapeshifting spirits that feed on blood. Lastly, the tester mentioned that one of the “witches” was in the caves as well, and was able to control the Strigoi.

Because you had no way of defending yourself against the witch or Strigoi, you were forced to rely on sneaking around the caves. Furthermore, you had other lanterns to light, in an attempt to keep these creatures away from you. Once the tester exited the cave, they found themselves in a castle. The source said that upon examining a file in the room, the castle was home to a woman name “Pepi”.

Again, none of this has been confirmed (obviously), so take it all with a grain of salt. But, given the past efforts by Biohazard Declassified, you can lean towards at least some of this being the real deal. Until then, Resident Evil Village is set to hit the PlayStation 5, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X and PC next year.
