After giving Godzilla a brand new makeover for Shin Godzilla (aka Godzilla Resurgence) back in 2016, Hideaki Anno and Shinji Higuchi announced a couple years ago that they’re next giving a similar treatment to Ultraman with the upcoming Shin Ultraman.
The official press release back in 2019 had announced that Shin Ultraman would be released in 2021, and it looks like that’s still the plan. Check out a piece of poster art as well as the first-look teaser trailer below, home to monsters and one biggie-sized Ultraman!
The film looks to be taking a very similar approach to Shin Godzilla, focusing on the bureaucracy of dealing with the sudden appearance of giant monsters. Bring. It. On.
Ultraman is, per his official bio, “An alien superhero from Nebula M78.” He first appeared in the ’60s Japanese TV series “Ultraman,” fighting various invading monsters and aliens.
Shin Ultraman will be produced by Toho Co., Khara Inc. and Tsuburaya Productions.
