Frogwares Surprises PS5 Owners With Enhanced Version of ‘The Sinking City’ Tomorrow

Coming out of nowhere this morning is the news that Frogwares, despite the current situation with publisher Nacon, has announced that a PS5-enhanced version of their Lovecraftian title The Sinking City will be available digitally on Friday, February 19.

The PS5 version of The Sinking City features the following enhancements:

·         4K (3840×2160) resolution

·         60 frames per second

·         Improved graphical fidelity

·         Improved loading times

·         Additional quests – part of the Merciful Madness DLC (included in Deluxe Edition, or as a separate purchase)

·         DualSense controller features

·         PS5 activities support

Unfortunately, existing PS4 owners of the title will not have the option to a free upgrade. The reasoning behind this is again due to the legal situation with Nacon, which owns the publishing rights on the PS4. The PS5 version is being self-published by Frogwares.

In order to ease the pain, Frogwares decided to drop the price of the PS5 version to 49.99 USD for the standard edition and 64.99 USD for the Deluxe Edition

In a statement by Serge Chervonnyi, Frogwares’ head of production, “As the sole owner and publisher of The Sinking City on PS5, we have chosen to price the game in a region that we feel is fair to players for this type of game. We’ll also be carefully looking at how we price all our future releases to try keep with this way of thinking.

On top of the reduced price, PS+ subscribers will have an additional 30% off discount for the first two weeks of the game’s release. To coincide with the launch, Frogwares is putting together an extensive digital artbook that shows the game’s journey from conception to release. Players who purchase the PS5 version of the game will receive the artbook automatically as a DLC at a later date.

The Sinking City is also available on the Nintendo Switch, Xbox One, and PC via Steam.
