Anika Noni Rose Joins Showtime’s “Let the Right One In” Pilot

John Ajvide Lindqvist’s novel became the incredible Swedish movie Let the Right One In back in 2008, which spawned the American remake Let Me In just a couple years later. The vampire tale is now headed to the small screen, as we recently learned that Showtime has ordered up a pilot episode of a potential series with Demián Bichir (The Nun) attached to star.

Deadline adds today that Anika Noni Rose (“Power,” “Them”) has also signed on.

Deadline details, “The series centers on a father, Mark (Bichir) and his 12-year-old daughter whose lives were changed forever 10 years earlier when she was turned into a vampire. Locked in at age 12, perhaps forever, Eleanor lives a closed-in life, able to go out only at night, while her father does his best to provide her with the minimal amount of human blood she needs to stay alive.”

“Rose will play Naomi. Brilliant but cynical, Naomi balances life as a single mother with her career as a homicide detective. She’d do anything for her son, Isaiah, and when Isaiah befriends the girl who’s just moved in next door, Naomi’s thrilled — until she starts to suspect something’s off with their new neighbors.”

Andrew Hinderaker (Away) is the showrunner, with Seith Mann (Homeland) directing.

The project hails from Tomorrow Studios, who have been trying to get a “Let the Right One In” series off the ground for the last several years now, previously set up at A&E and TNT.

Given that Netflix really is the master of their own data, how many times a viewer streams The Ridiculous 6, or what films don't get watched all the way straight through, or how many times someone watches an episode of Bill Nye Saves the World, it was easy for them to come up with the list based on just one percentage: 70 percent.
