‘Godzilla vs. Kong’ Gets a Low-Budget Kaiju Smackdown Mockbuster With ‘Ape vs. Monster’ [Trailer]

When a big budget monster movie comes out of Hollywood, you can bet a low-budget “mockbuster” from The Asylum isn’t far behind. And Godzilla vs. Kong is getting one next.

The official trailer today previews Ape vs. Monster, The Asylum’s version of Adam Wingard’s mashup fight film that similarly pits a giant ape up against a giant lizard.

It looks like the “intergalactic combat” of this one plays out in Washington D.C., and the most surprising thing about the trailer is that… the Godzilla knockoff looks kind of cool?!

As for the ape, well, he’s not looking so hot. And as for Eric Roberts, yes of course he’s in this movie. Watch the trailer for Ape vs. Monster below and expect the movie soon.
